Our founder

Hilary Drummond

Hilary founded Creative Therapy Consultants in the South Okanagan in 1986. She practised occupational therapy for 43 years and built the company that became BC's longest-standing occupational therapy practice still owned and run by occupational therapists.

Her story

Hilary graduated from the University of Alberta in 1978 with a BSc in Occupational Therapy. She worked in a range of settings in Alberta before moving to the South Okanagan in 1984.

In 1986 she started Creative Therapy Consultants while working part time for the Arthritis Service, Penticton Regional Hospital and South Okanagan General Hospital. She began with orthopaedic foot and hand consultations, providing clients with splints and orthotics. In the late 1980s she started working for insurance companies and lawyers, and by 1990 she had left her other jobs to run the practice full time.

Over the next thirty years Hilary gave a great deal to her profession. She volunteered on a number of professional boards and associations, was invited to serve on the inaugural College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia, and developed programs for the insurance companies she worked with. CTC ranged from two to ten full-time therapists depending on demand. Hilary kept winning new contracts while holding to her vision: excellent occupational therapy services in the South Okanagan Valley.

Hilary and David McInerney became partners in 2013. David bought Hilary out in 2016, and she took on a mentoring role for CTC therapists until she retired in 2020.
