Smithers

Community rehabilitation in Smithers and the Bulkley Valley. There is no office in Smithers; our Northwest team, based in Terrace, visits clients here.

Occupational therapists and a rehabilitation assistant serve Smithers, Houston and Hazelton. We see clients at home, in the community, at work and online.

Bulkley Valley District Hospital is in Smithers, and Wrinch Memorial Hospital serves the Hazeltons. Our Northwest team drives Highway 16 from Terrace, and we visit clients from Telkwa and Houston to the Hazeltons and Burns Lake. Work in the valley includes forestry and sawmills, mining, ranching, tourism around Hudson Bay Mountain, and local government and health care. This is Wet'suwet'en and Gitxsan territory.

Clients are referred by WorkSafeBC, ICBC, Veterans Affairs Canada, long-term disability insurers, employers and lawyers. The goal is function and independence at home, in the community and, where possible, at work.

To arrange community rehabilitation in Smithers, the client's case manager, adjuster, disability insurer, employer or lawyer sends a referral to referrals@creativetherapyconsultants.ca or calls 1-888-880-3222. We contact the client within 1 business day of the referral, and the client gets their clinician's direct phone number and email. Sessions take place at home, in the community, at work or online, and the nearest CTC office is in Terrace.
